Every year, no matter how busy my dad is, he will make lanterns for me, yet it's been almost 2 years since Covid-19 took my dad so far. I wish this year's Mid-Autumn Festival to gather with friends with similar circumstances to share joys and sorrows…
That was the choked sharing of a child orphaned by his father during the Covid-19 pandemic at the event “New Moon Story”.
Afternoon 24/9, Kim Oanh Group (Binh Thanh District, Ho Chi Minh City) HCMC) organized the Mid-Autumn Festival 2023 with the theme “New Moon Stories” for nearly 80 orphaned children in Ho Chi Minh City. HCM, Binh Duong, Dong Nai.
These are children orphaned by one parent, or orphaned by both parents during the Covid-19 pandemic, with extremely difficult circumstances who are being sponsored by the project “Co-parenting” (founded by Kim Oanh Charity Foundation), supporting them to take care of part of their material and spiritual life.
At “New Moon Story”, children can participate in many fun activities such as moon lantern making contest; watch lion dances and arts; sharing childhood stories…
“New Moon Story” also displays true stories and images about children's journey to grow up through activities such as participating in summer skills classes, military semesters…
On this occasion, Kim Oanh Charity Foundation also received 22 new orphans in difficult circumstances in Ho Chi Minh City. HCMC and Dong Nai province; At the same time, these 22 children were also sponsored by their parents who are donors right at the program. The “Co-parenting” project has also awarded scholarships to children, each scholarship worth 12 million VND/year.
Ngo Bao Khanh (13 years old) is one of 22 children adopted by the “Co-parenting” project on this occasion. Bao Khanh shared: “My mother died due to the Covid-19 epidemic, my father had to raise 3 sisters alone. My father worked as a tree sawer, often without a job, so he struggled to earn money to buy food and pay school fees for his children. I thank my aunts and uncles who helped me with the scholarship so that I could continue my education and have a place called family.”
Sharing with Thanh Nien, Mrs. Dang Thi Kim Oanh, founding chairwoman of Kim Oanh Charity Foundation, said that the project “Parenting together” has sponsored 40 children orphaned by one parent or both parents during the Covid-19 pandemic, this time receiving 22 more children. Through the project, Kim Oanh Charity Foundation has received the support and companionship of philanthropists, receiving support for orphaned children, helping them to go to school and make ends meet.
“The spirit of the project is not only to help materially, but also to accompany the children in the future. How can you still feel the love of society, who really love and support you”, Mrs. Kim Oanh shared.
Chairman of Kim Oanh Charity Foundation also said that in the near future, Kim Oanh Charity Foundation will change its name to “Compassionate Start Fund” and expand throughout the country and abroad to join hands to help disadvantaged children receive timely support.
Mrs. Kim Oanh hopes that from the project “Parenthood” and the program “New Moon Story” there will be more units and individuals interested in helping orphans in difficult circumstances to stabilize their lives and find opportunities for future development.
