Dong Nai – On March 15, Mr. Tran Quang Lam – Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport said that Cat Lai bridge connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Nhon Trach district of Dong Nai province has agreed to prioritize implementation first, from now to 2030. In addition, two other bridges connecting Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City will also be deployed after 2030.

This is information at the 4th Conference on Cooperation Exchange between localities in the Southeast region, the first quarter of 2024 including: Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Tay Ninh.

According to Mr. Tran Quang Lam – Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, regarding the bridge over the Dong Nai River connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai, in addition to Cat Lai Bridge, the 2 localities have also agreed to add 2 other bridges connecting the 2 localities.
In which, it is agreed to prioritize the deployment before Cat Lai bridge, from now to 2030; and the other two bridges after 2030.

Mr. Lam also added that after studying and reviewing the planning and technical factors, it was found that it is necessary to study to ensure legality.

In terms of planning, Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai have now agreed. However, in order to have a basis for implementing the project, in parallel with the pre-feasibility study, it is necessary to study and supplement the general planning, while on the Ho Chi Minh City side, according to the urban planning law, it must also be added to the traffic planning, which Ho Chi Minh City is currently focusing on.

Previously, Dong Nai province repeatedly proposed to build Cat Lai bridge connecting Nhon Trach district (Dong Nai) with Thu Duc city (Ho Chi Minh City) before 2025 to soon remove Cat Lai ferry.Dong Nai also determined that Cat Lai Bridge is the main road connecting to Road 25C and going directly to Long Thanh airport. This is also the main route sharing traffic with the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thanh – Dau Giay expressway main line.In particular, the location of Cat Lai bridge instead of Cat Lai ferry remains the same according to the previous plan. In addition, adding to the planning Phu My 2 bridge from Phu Huu (Nhon Trach district) connecting through District 7 (Ho Chi Minh City) and planning the 3rd bridge in Tam An commune, Long Thanh district connecting to Thu Duc city (Ho Chi Minh City).
