On the morning of July 23, Kim Oanh Charity Foundation of Kim Oanh Group was present in Quang Tri province to organize a ceremony to pray, burn incense, commemorate and pay tribute to the martyrs’ heroes at Truong Son Martyrs’ Cemetery after a long journey of more than 1,000km.

Attending the ceremony were Mr. Nguyen Huu Dung – Vice Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Mr. Dao Manh Hung – Member of the Standing Committee of the province, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Tri province; Vietnam Buddhist Church in Quang Tri province; Kim Oanh Group’s leaders organized a series of practical activities to pay tribute to the merits and educate the heroic traditions of our people in the fight for national independence and national defense.

Leading the delegation of Kim Oanh Group were Mrs. Dang Thi Kim Oanh – Chairman of Kim Oanh Group – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kim Oanh Charity Foundation; Mr. Nguyen Thuan – Vice Chairman of the Group, and many officers and employees of the Group.

This is the first time Kim Oanh Charity Foundation has made a pilgrimage to pay tribute to local revolutionaries on the Day of Invalids – Martyrs 27/7.

The super prayer ceremony took place solemnly for more than 2 hours at Uncle Ho temple.

Truong Son Martyrs’ Cemetery is now the resting place of more than 10,000 martyrs who are girls and boys in their twenties and eighteen who bravely sacrificed in 6,000 days and nights to open, maintain and develop Truong Son Road.

The staff of the Group remembered and thanked the generation of fathers and grandfathers who spared no blood and bones to keep the country for us to be warm and happy today.

According to Mrs. Dang Thi Kim Oanh – Chairman of the Group, Chairman of the Management Board of Kim Oanh Charity Foundation, this is an annual gratitude activity of the Group to spread and promote the tradition of “Drinking water to remember the source”, “Good leaves covering torn leaves” and at the same time showing the spirit of caring for the families of martyrs which is part of the responsibility of businesses.

“Changshan Soul Martyr. Abundant Eastern Sea Spirit Qi. Three mind-shaking recruits. Miles and miles of rivers are heavy with love,” Professor Wudan’s verse is carved into a bell 

In the cemetery, the graves are arranged into 10 zones by locality, according to the birthplace of the martyrs and the reserved area for the unknown martyr. In the photo is the grave area, memorial monument to 469 martyrs of Hanoi city.

At the end of the program of praying, commemorating and burning incense for martyrs, the delegation moved to the hall of the Vietnam Fatherland People’s Committee in Quang Tri province to continue the activities of giving gifts to policy families.

Although the war has receded, there are still many traces in Quang Tri. Along with that, this is one of the localities often affected by natural disasters, so people’s lives are still difficult.

Sharing at the program, Ms. Dang Thi Kim Oanh emotionally said that she comes from a family rich in revolutionary traditions, so she understands the great sacrifice of generations of his fathers in the struggle to protect the country. “My paternal grandmother was a heroic Vietnamese mother, my grandfather, maternal uncle and uncle were martyrs, so on this pilgrimage, we went back to burn incense and offer flowers at the graves of the heroic Vietnamese Mother and 4 martyrs in Thua Thien – Hue. Every year 27/7 is an opportunity for us to pay tribute, remember the martyred heroes and carry out the tradition of giving back in localities such as Con Dao (Ba Ria-Vung Tau), Binh Duong, Dong Nai ,… And today, we are here to do something meaningful,” Kim Oanh said.

At the program, Kim Oanh Charity Foundation donated 5 Great Solidarity houses to policy families and revolutionary workers, each worth VND 80 million; donated 300 gifts to students who are children of policy families, revolutionaries and ethnic minority families, each worth VND 1 million; 200 gifts to revolutionary workers, victims of Agent Orange, each worth 1 million VND (gifts include cash, Kim Oanh Group backpack, helmet, raincoat). Total operating budget is more than 1.2 billion VND.

Mr. Dao Manh Hung – Member of the Standing Committee of the province, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Quang Tri province received a symbolic board with a total gift value of  500 million VND from Kim Oanh Group.

Mr. Nguyen Thuan donated insurance, raincoats and backpacks to students who are children of local policy families.

The delegation visited, encouraged and gave gifts to families affected by Agent Orange.
